Well not entirely sure where to start My story will hopefully give other women who have been through something similar a little bit of hope :)
December 08 i discovered that i was pregnant (a planned and wanted pregnancy) Me and my partner where both over the moon i couldnt believe my luck at falling pregnant straight away!
unfortunatly about 3 or 4 days after my positive result i started bleeing in the morning extremly light when i went to the doctor she sent me straight to the early pregnancy unit where they took bloods and swabs. I was told to watch out for any pain and to return two days later for more blood to be taken (to monitor my hcg) by the next morning there was no blood and only very mild discomfort. When i returned two days later for my blood to be taken i got the result from my first one which was 741 the next day i got my 2nd result which was 1236 The doctors were concerned that my hcg hadnt doubled they way they would have expected in a normal pregnancy but werent too alarmed as it ALMOST had doubled.
They continued to monitor my blood for a full week it continued to rise well but not quite double. So i was sent for an early scan where they couldnt find anything in my womb. but they could see some free fluid. They sent me off saying they couldnt rule out an ectopic pregnancy but it may be too early to see anything in my womb. My doctor then told me to return a week later for another scan. Sadly that night i got a pain down my right handside which was getting worse by the minute. I went straight to the hospital (as told to do previously if i got pain) i went in at 8.15pm and by 9pm i was looking at the big lights in the operating theatre. They decided to do keyhole surgery to see exactly what was going on.
Unfortunatly when i came round from the surgery they confirmed the baby was growing in my right fallopian tube and it had ruptured causing internal bleeding. They removed the entire tube.
Next morning i was visited from my surgeon with some graphic pictures of my op. He confirmed what had happened and i was handed a leaflet on ectopic pregnancies.
The pain of the surgery wasnt anything near losing my baby and being told my chances of concieving again were down to 50%.
However i pulled myself together and recovered from the surgery. I knew i wouldnt ovulate again for at least 6 weeks and i had my period on the 31st of january....
deciding i didnt want to wait to try again i bought a clearblue ovulation kit and started using the strips when i was due to ovulate. much to my dismay nothing appeared on the strips no lh surge :( so i assumed i wasnt going to ovulate for another month and put it down to the surgery.
To my absoloute delight iv now discovered the reason for the ovulation kit not working is because i am already pregnant!
The main point in my story is it really is disheartening to think of your chances of concieving being halfed but it goes to show you "you never know" I have fallen pregnant the very first time i ovulated after my op!
so it really is possible even though IT CAN take longer to concieve it doesnt always so dont give up hope! :)
I always believed that if your right ovary realesed an egg it would go down your right tube. This is probably mostly the case BUT it is possible that your egg from your right ovary can actually travel over and go down your left tube and vice versa!
If anyone wants to talk to me after having an ectopic pregnancy i am here! i certainly know how i felt and mainly how unfair it all was
knowing that i am young healthy and not high risk but theres always hope.
I am having my hcg monitored again and getting an early scan again on the 16th my hcg is doubling nicely and i just gotta remain optimistic and not stress :):)
