I saw The Thrills at The Venue at Oxford Brookes University in October 2003 after hearing and loving the singles One Horse Town and Santa Cruz. It was a great gig with a great atmoshpere and lots of cheap beer :-)
A friend once handed me a compiilation of music that he thought I might like... I Am Kloot was on that cassette tape (yes, it was 2002 and cassettes were still in use!) and I instantly fell in love with their sound.
I saw them live at Oxford Brookes SU in March 2003 when they supported Turin Brakes. No offence to Turin Brakes, but it was I Am Kloot that won me over that night.
I've seen FCG live several times in Oxford (from their humble beginnings at Morrell Hall to sell-out gigs at the Zodiac). They're truly mind-blowing to watch. I swear there's nothing on earth like hearing "Rudoph Valentino" live.
Although not with us anymore, half of FCG have become The Winchell Riots... looking forward to hearing more from them.
I saw Bloc Party for the first time at the Zenith in Paris in November 2007. I've been a fan for a couple of years but never managed to get to see them before. The gig was just after "Flux" had hit the airwaves and I absolutely love this track so when they played it I went mad!
Ok I admit, it was Richard's cute face that caught my attention when I first saw the "Hard to Beat" video on MTV but I soon really got into this band for their music and went to see them live at the Elysee Montmartre in Paris in March 2006.
Richard was off his face during the gig but it was a great atmosphere and their cover of the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" was excellent!
